80th Birthday celebrations for our Animal Centre!

80th Birthday celebrations for our Animal Centre!

On 6 December 1939 the Mayor of Rochdale officially opened the new clinic and animal shelter. These are the same premises that the Rochdale Animal Centre is located at today.

On Tuesday 26th November 2019 we welcomed distinguished guests to help us celebrate our 80th year on this site.  We were joined by Mr.Warren Smith J.P. Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester and the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, who respectively unveiled a letter from HRH Queen Elizabeth II and a celebration plaque.  Vice-Chair of the Branch Mr Canavan gave an overview of the Rochdale branch’s extensive 130-year history, which was originally established in 1890, operating across a number of local premises, before moving to the former Woodman Hotel on Redcross Street in 1939.

We would like to thank J.Childs & Son Ltd (Roger) for donating the beautiful plaque and Brown's Cakes (Natasha) for donating our delicious celebration cake!
